M.E. (Met. & Mats.) in Welding Technology — L&T & MSU Baroda Admissions 2026-28 | Full Details, Eligibility, Stipend
Looking for a postgraduate engineering course that guarantees industry exposure, a monthly stipend, and a job offer at the end of it? The M.E. in Welding Technology, a joint initiative of Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, might be exactly what you need. This article covers everything you need to know — eligibility, sponsorship benefits, fees, important dates, and how to apply for the 2026–2028 batch.
About the Program
Since 2006, L&T and The M.S. University of Baroda have run this unique industry–academia initiative to build a pipeline of skilled welding technologists for India's manufacturing and heavy engineering sector. The course is offered under the Department of Metallurgical & Materials Engineering, Faculty of Technology & Engineering, MSU Baroda.
It is a full-time, two-year postgraduate program structured as follows:
- Year 1: Classroom learning at MSU combined with weekly industrial visits to L&T's manufacturing facilities for hands-on, practical demonstrations.
- Year 2: A dedicated project or dissertation on emerging welding technologies and trends, carried out at L&T or another sponsoring industry.
Roughly 15 seats are offered per batch, of which 12 seats are sponsored directly by L&T, with the rest open to sponsorship by other leading welding industries.
Why Choose This Course?
Unlike a typical M.E./M.Tech program, this course is designed around real industry needs from day one. Students don't just learn welding theory — they get embedded in an actual manufacturing environment, work on live industrial problems, and graduate with a guaranteed pathway into employment. For mechanical, metallurgical, production, or mechatronics engineering graduates looking to specialize in welding and join India's core engineering sector, this is a rare combination of academic rigor and assured career outcomes.
